Role Overview
As a Senior or Principal Machine Learning Engineer reporting to the Head of AI Engineering, you will convert advanced AI research, including foundation models and self-supervised learning, into practical AI as a medical device products. Working in collaborative, multidisciplinary teams that include software developers, testers, DevOps, and integration engineers, you will lead innovation and adoption of best practices within our AI engineering function. This role offers a unique chance to impact patient lives through cutting-edge healthcare AI solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and refine AI algorithms, prototypes, and applications focused on foundation models and self-supervised learning for healthcare domains.
- Enhance model precision and optimize training workflows to achieve scalability and enable swift experimentation.
- Utilize agile methodologies and uphold rigorous software engineering standards emphasizing test-driven development, rapid prototyping, validation, and iterative improvement.
- Regularly document technical progress and project milestones thoroughly and clearly.
- Engage deeply with current AI literature to benchmark and integrate leading-edge techniques and methodologies.
- Conduct in-depth evaluation of generative AI models, working closely with teams handling large-scale model training.
- Nurture a culture of excellence by addressing challenges proactively, championing best practices and integrity, and promoting Harrison.ai's mission internally and externally.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Significant expertise in machine learning engineering or applied research roles collaborating closely with software development teams.
- Proficiency with Python programming language and modern deep learning frameworks, specifically PyTorch.
- Experience developing foundation models and self-supervised learning approaches.
- Academic background at honours level or higher in computer science, or comparable strong quantitative skills and software engineering experience.
- Practical involvement in assessing generative AI models and partnering with teams training models at scale.
Desirable Skills and Attributes
- Familiarity with healthcare data and clinical AI solutions.
- Hands-on experience deploying and testing machine learning models within product development settings using rigorous engineering standards.
- Exposure to large-scale distributed training, AWS cloud technology, and domains like computer vision and natural language processing.
- Broad knowledge of various AI tools and methodologies.
- PhD in machine learning or equivalent research accomplishments.
- Contributions to publications or open-source projects related to foundation models, self-supervised learning, or generative AI.
