Role Overview
As a Senior Transportation Engineer, you will provide expert engineering services to transit systems, highways, and governmental agencies including state, city, and county clients. You will lead corridor studies, forecast transportation demand through modeling, conduct traffic analyses, and support transportation planning efforts including impact fee development.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver transportation engineering solutions for infrastructure and transit clients.
- Lead comprehensive corridor studies and produce forecast models for traffic and transit demand.
- Perform detailed traffic analyses and support impact fee development initiatives.
- Gather and manage data necessary for project execution, including research, agency interviews, land use assessments, and socioeconomic surveys.
- Develop mapping to identify project constraints.
- Prepare essential documentation such as categorical exclusions, environmental assessments, impact studies, and technical reports.
- Support and engage in public information meetings and government hearings as required.
- Carry out additional responsibilities as they arise.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Planning, Civil Engineering, or closely related disciplines.
- At least 5 years of experience in transportation planning with an emphasis on transit and highway projects.
- Strong analytical capabilities paired with proficient communication skills.
- Understanding of transit planning concepts and methods.
- Proactive attitude with capability to work both independently and collaboratively within teams.
- Experience managing multiple projects and personnel effectively.
- Business development skills, client relationship building, and presentation abilities.
- Commitment to contributing actively in an employee-owned organizational culture.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience, ideally 15 years, in design, planning, or traffic analysis.
- Proficiency in designing, planning, or analyzing urban arterials, rural highways, intersections, freeways, and multi-level interchanges.
- Experience with traffic impact studies.
- Familiarity with CAD software, Synchro, Vissim, and Microsoft Office suite.
Technical Skills
- Proficient in MS Office applications, CAD design tools, and geographic information systems like ArcInfo/ArcView.
