Senior Traffic Engineer

Role Overview

The Senior Traffic Engineer plays a pivotal role in traffic engineering and design, focusing on the integration of traffic solutions within landscaping, streetscape, public realm, parks, residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects. Key tasks include developing and reviewing circulation plans, road layouts, parking, pedestrian crossings, and ensuring accessibility and safety.

Core Responsibilities

• Create and analyze traffic engineering designs, including road geometry and access arrangements.
• Evaluate traffic flow dynamics, vehicle turning paths, sight lines, and pedestrian connectivity.
• Coordinate integration of traffic elements with landscape architecture, utilities, lighting, and drainage systems.
• Review traffic control devices such as signage, road markings, speed management, and barriers.
• Confirm adequate access provisions for emergency, maintenance, waste collection, and landscaping vehicles.
• Lead Traffic Impact Assessments, traffic studies, and parking and road safety evaluations to determine effects on surrounding infrastructure and recommend mitigations.
• Utilize traffic modeling and analytical tools to assess network functionality and capacity.
• Ensure compliance with UAE regulatory authorities’ standards and secure necessary approvals through documentation submissions and addressing technical feedback.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including landscape architects, engineers, urban designers, ensuring elimination of design conflicts and maintaining safety and accessibility standards.
• Support construction phases via design reviews, site inspections, and managing traffic-related construction queries.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, oversee quality assurance of designs and reports, and prepare technical documentation to support management decision-making.
• Adhere strictly to all occupational health, safety, environmental policies, and information security protocols, ensuring personal accountability and compliance with Basatin Landscaping’s standards.

Qualification Requirements

• Bachelor’s in Civil, Transportation, or Traffic Engineering; a Master’s degree is advantageous.
• A minimum of 8 to 12 years’ relevant experience, with regional experience in UAE or GCC preferred.
• Expertise in traffic engineering design related to landscaping, urban development, and infrastructure.
• Experience managing authority submissions and approvals within the UAE regulatory framework.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, including engineering drawing production; knowledge of Civil 3D is beneficial.
• Experience with traffic analysis and modeling software such as SIDRA, VISSIM, or SYNCHRO is desired.
• Skillful in technical report writing, presentations, multidisciplinary coordination, and project leadership.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication capabilities with a detail-oriented approach.
• Capability to handle multiple projects, ensuring quality and timely completion under stringent deadlines.
• Understanding safety, access, sustainability, and harmonious urban design integration principles.
• Commercially aware with a pragmatic attitude toward cost optimization and value engineering.

• Information security responsibilities include adherence to Basatin’s security policies, ensuring proper use and protection of sensitive information, maintaining confidentiality of access credentials, and handling security incidents appropriately.
