Landscape Draughtsman

Job Summary

This position involves producing, revising, and managing detailed landscape drawings and technical documents for projects involving hardscape, softscape, irrigation, site development, and external works. The landscape draughtsman will provide essential support to design, engineering, and construction teams by creating precise CAD drawings that align with project requirements, client expectations, and organizational standards throughout all phases of a project.

Key Responsibilities

• Create comprehensive landscape drawings including layouts, plans, sections, elevations, and construction details.
• Generate CAD-based designs for elements such as hardscape, softscape, irrigation systems, site furnishings, and external infrastructure.
• Transform conceptual sketches and design markups into accurate technical and construction-ready drawings.
• Develop landscape shop drawings compliant with approved plans, project specs, and client needs.
• Prepare detailed plans for planting, paving, grading, boundaries, and other landscape construction components.
• Collaborate closely with Landscape Architects, Engineers (Landscape and Irrigation), and technical staff during drawing preparation.
• Ensure all drawings meet project standards, follow company CAD protocols, and adhere to relevant regulations.
• Examine design details to detect discrepancies, missing information, or coordination conflicts prior to issuing drawings.
• Incorporate feedback from consultants, clients, and design revisions into updated drawing sets.
• Coordinate landscape drawings with civil, irrigation, electrical, structural, and utilities disciplines to resolve design clashes.
• Prepare setting-out plans and site layouts to facilitate construction operations.
• Assist with producing material submittals and supporting technical documentation through detailed drawing work.
• Create construction details for hardscape features such as paving, kerbing, walls, steps, pergolas, seating, and other landscape structures.
• Develop detailed softscape drawings including planting layouts, schedules, tree pit details, and planting specifications.

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma in Landscape Drafting, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline.
• Proficient user of AutoCAD software.
• 3 to 6 years of professional experience in landscape drafting focusing on hardscape, softscape, and external works projects.
• 2 to 4 years specifically as a Landscape Draughtsman preparing construction drawings for landscaping projects.
