Senior Traffic Engineer

Overview

We are looking for a highly experienced Senior Traffic Engineer to become a key member of our Construction Supervision team based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. This role focuses on managing traffic engineering and traffic management operations across significant transportation infrastructure projects. The candidate will ensure compliance with project guidelines, local regulatory requirements, safety protocols, and consultant standards. A solid background in overseeing complex transportation infrastructure construction sites is essential.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and ensure effective execution of traffic engineering and management during the construction stages.
• Evaluate and approve Traffic Management Plans (TMPs), traffic diversion strategies, temporary road configurations, and traffic control within work zones.
• Collaborate actively with contractors, clients, local government agencies, and other involved stakeholders to maintain uninterrupted traffic flow during project execution.
• Perform site inspections to confirm adherence to approved designs, safety standards, and construction procedures.
• Assess contractor deliverables including method statements, shop drawings, and traffic impact evaluations.
• Track and report any traffic-related hazards, incidents, and the measures taken to mitigate them.
• Ensure projects align with timelines, quality benchmarks, and comply with health and safety regulations.
• Assist the Resident Engineer and Project Management in addressing traffic engineering and operational issues.
• Compile technical documentation such as inspection logs, progress reports, and formal reports.
• Engage with municipal and transportation authorities to secure necessary permits, approvals, and meet traffic management regulations.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 12 to 15 years of professional experience in traffic engineering and transportation infrastructure.
• Demonstrated expertise in construction supervision within consultancy or similar environments.
• Extensive site supervision background across major transport infrastructure projects including roads, highways, bridges, tunnels, utilities, and infrastructure corridors.
• Experience thoroughly reviewing traffic management plans, temporary traffic control measures, and traffic diversion schemes.
• Knowledge of Saudi Arabian traffic standards and international engineering best practices is preferred.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with varied stakeholders.
• Strong report writing capabilities and membership of a recognized engineering institution is a plus.
• Capability to operate effectively in multidisciplinary teams within dynamic construction projects.
