Role Overview

The Senior Storeman, based in Lusaka, Zambia, is responsible for overseeing inventory management. This includes accurate receiving, storing, dispatching of goods, maintaining stock records, warehouse organization, and ensuring adherence to safety standards. The role demands flexibility in work hours aligned with operation schedules.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive, verify, and document incoming inventory and materials.
• Label, organize, and store items systematically within the warehouse.
• Issue goods as per company protocols.
• Conduct periodic stocktaking to maintain precise inventory data.
• Monitor inventory levels, reporting shortages or surpluses.
• Utilize computerized inventory systems for stock management.
• Ensure proper storage to avoid damage or losses.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly warehouse setting.
• Implement storage procedures effectively.
• Pick, pack, and prepare shipments accurately following company procedures.
• Document and label all dispatched goods meticulously.
• Collaborate with logistics for timely delivery schedules.
• Maintain comprehensive records of all inventory transactions including receipts, issues, returns, and adjustments.
• Generate regular reports on inventory status, discrepancies, and warehouse activities.
• Adhere strictly to health and safety policies to foster a safe workplace.
• Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks safely.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and legal standards concerning inventory handling.
• Conduct hazard analyses before starting operational activities with the team.
• Coordinate with procurement, logistics, and other internal departments to address issues effectively.
• Communicate stock-related issues or delays to relevant parties.
• Assist in rectifying discrepancies concerning shipments or stock.
• Support departmental goals and perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• University degree is preferred but not mandatory.
• Prior experience in drilling or mining sectors is advantageous but not compulsory.
• Capability to engage with diverse cultural groups.
• Proficient written and spoken English communication skills.
• Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
• Competency with Email and Outlook.
• Familiarity with ERP systems such as Accpac, Dynamics 365, or equivalents.

Experience

• Minimum of two years in inventory control roles.
• Experience setting minimum and maximum stock levels is beneficial but not essential.
• Stock code management experience considered an advantage.
