As a Senior Staff Sales Engineer, you will engage with some of the world's most pioneering companies, delivering a differentiated product in a fast-moving market. This role involves close collaboration with sales, product, engineering, and support teams to drive customer success and product evolution.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with sales teams to present and demonstrate CockroachDB to prospective customers, acting as a trusted technical advisor and crafting tailored solutions.
• Lead product briefings, build proof-of-concepts, conduct live demonstrations, and prototype integrations with CockroachDB.
• Work alongside product management, engineering, and support to tackle customer challenges and contribute to the ongoing enhancement of CockroachDB.
• Address technical objections encountered during sales, formulating engineering strategies to overcome barriers to adoption.

Expectations and Onboarding

Within the first month, immerse yourself in CockroachDB technology and the sales process, actively listening to customer discussions and forming relationships internally. By three months, confidently lead customer meetings, manage proof-of-concept deployments, and collaborate with Account Managers to develop regional market plans and key account strategies.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience (10-12+ years) in gathering requirements, designing solution architectures, leading technical presentations, and training users or teams on complex software akin to CockroachDB.
• Background in software or infrastructure development for scalable, distributed systems with a desire to remain involved closely with code.
• Strong problem-solving skills and deep knowledge of modern infrastructure and database systems.
• Demonstrated ability to cultivate strong relationships with partners, customers, and open source communities.
• Proven practice of incorporating AI tools regularly to enhance speed, quality, and decision-making processes.
• Fluency and default use of AI technologies across key tasks including research, drafting, analysis, and planning.
• A collaborative mindset dedicated to ensuring feedback loops between customers and internal teams to improve product offering.
• Willingness and flexibility to travel for customer meetings, conferences, or other business requirements.
