Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Solutions Engineer specializing in PreSales to serve as a technical authority during sales cycles. This role primarily involves guiding customers through challenges, illustrating how Couchbase’s solution stack meets their needs, and inspiring excitement for our innovative approach. The focus is on customers interacting via application code and development processes, requiring strong software development acumen alongside presales expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage consultatively with customers and prospects to identify their pain points and opportunities.
- Align identified challenges with the Couchbase ecosystem, emphasizing distinct and sustainable business advantages.
- Build trust as an advisor by challenging existing assumptions and delivering clear value propositions.
- Propose innovative and unconventional solution approaches to address business needs.
- Lead technical discovery sessions, workshops, and demos across diverse deals.
- Collaborate with sales to strategize accounts and uncover additional opportunities within new and existing clients.
- Ensure successful customer trials and proof-of-concepts by managing acceptance criteria and resolving issues promptly.
- Create engaging presentations and demos that effectively showcase Couchbase’s products and capabilities.
- Communicate Couchbase technology benefits to various audiences, including managers, architects, and developers, linking technology to business outcomes.
- Maintain deep product expertise and stay informed about competing data solutions in the market.
- Partner with Product Management and Engineering, relaying customer feedback and representing client perspectives.
- Contribute to internal and external technical documentation such as deployment architectures, best practices, and industry standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Over 8 years of experience in presales, customer-facing, or consulting roles.
- At least 3 years of software development or relevant industry experience.
- Knowledge of NoSQL databases or distributed high-performance systems.
- Strong presentation skills with an ability to communicate technical solutions effectively to a range of stakeholders, from developers to executives.
- Demonstrated enthusiasm for solving technical problems and overcoming customer challenges.
- Programming proficiency in one or more languages: Java, Python, JavaScript, .NET, C, or SQL.
- Experience working with major cloud providers such as AWS, Azure or GCP.
- Competency in designing solutions on a major database platform including data modeling, indexing, and query optimization.
