Role Expectations

We seek a seasoned technical lead who excels in architecting scalable software systems and mentoring development teams. This role demands ownership of end-to-end project deliveries, technical decision-making, and best practice enforcement throughout the development cycle. The senior engineer will elevate code quality, coach colleagues, and translate critical technical concepts for diverse stakeholders, also contributing clear technical documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead system design within your domain, authoring both high-level and detailed technical specifications while assessing architectures for security, reliability, and scalability.
• Guide technology selections by assessing frameworks and tools suited to project needs.
• Set and uphold engineering standards encompassing code quality, test automation, and CI/CD procedures.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, delivering performance feedback and support to foster professional growth.
• Review team code submissions to identify defects, optimize performance, and ensure compliance with standards.
• Break down complex features into manageable tasks, establish timelines, and approximate resource requirements.
• Proactively identify technical risks, devising mitigation strategies to avoid adverse effects on delivery.
• Participate in reducing technical debt backlog to improve system stability and maintainability.
• Collaborate cross-functionally, translating technical language into accessible terms for product management and executive stakeholders.
• Troubleshoot and architect long-term fixes for complex software issues.
• Refactor legacy code to enhance performance and maintainability.

Qualifications

• Solid foundation in software development principles and computer science.
• Strong command of at least one programming language actively used at Callsign.
• In-depth knowledge of both relational and non-relational database systems.
• Competency with cloud infrastructure deployments and management.
• Experience designing and implementing large-scale, resilient, and secure software architecture.
