Job description
Role Overview
As a Senior Software Engineer within Riot's VALORANT Foundations Release Engineering team, you will focus on enhancing core capabilities including the game engine, content pipelines, and developer workflows. Your efforts will help ensure seamless delivery of outstanding VALORANT content to players worldwide, supporting the live service with robust, automated release processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and upgrade VALORANT's global release pipeline to ensure timely delivery to players.
- Lead technical initiatives to automate and extend the reliability of release systems.
- Collaborate closely with team members by spearheading development activities to solidify domain-specific automation areas.
- Develop strong, testable engineering solutions addressing complex challenges with a defensive coding mindset.
- Manage and execute multi-month development projects effectively.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers to foster professional growth.
- Participate in the team’s call rotation for operational support.
Qualifications
Required:
- At least 4 years of experience in professional software engineering.
- Proven background in developing and maintaining live service products with a focus on enhancing developer experience.
- Strong ability to write clear and maintainable code and communicate technical concepts effectively across disciplines.
- Expertise maintaining and improving orchestration/build pipelines (experience with Jenkins, Horde, or equivalent).
- Practical or personal experience working with Unreal Engine.
Preferred:
- Over 3 years of professional experience using C# and/or Groovy.
- Extensive mastery of Jenkins and expertise in orchestrating global release workflows.
- Experience working within Lean or Agile methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban.
- Strong skills in automating workflows to enhance maintainability and scalability.
- Proven track record building automated build, test, and release pipelines.
- Proficiency in C++ with solid foundation in software engineering principles including data structures, algorithms, and concurrency.
- Technical knowledge in leveraging GitHub Actions for service automation and delivery.
- Comfort working in cross-functional teams and collaborating across multiple disciplines.

Additional Information
This position is Sydney-based with an onsite work arrangement.
Base salary range is between 131100 and 196700 AUD annually.
