Role Overview
The Qodana Core team develops a static code analysis engine aimed at integrating JetBrains IDE intelligence into CI/CD pipelines. This tool helps teams detect security vulnerabilities, licensing issues, and bugs early in the development process, especially critical as AI-assisted coding advances.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and refine static code analysis checks, inter-procedural algorithms, and detection mechanisms.
- Enhance Qodana's abilities in license compliance, security, and vulnerability identification.
- Improve analysis execution efficiency by optimizing configuration and performance tailored to project specifics.
- Develop robust CI/CD pipeline integrations for seamless adoption across diverse development environments.
- Collaborate with JetBrains' compiler and IDE teams to coordinate and unify analysis engines and strategies.
- Lead features from conception through release, incorporating feedback and iterative improvements.
Qualifications and Skills
- Strong passion and understanding of code structures, compilers, and static analysis methodologies.
- Initiative-driven approach to process improvements and system enhancements without requiring direction.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills, supporting ideas with logical explanations.
- Ability to work effectively with distributed teams across time zones.
- Commitment to code quality and sustainable, maintainable solutions.
- Experience with developer tools, static code analysis, application security, or large language model (LLM)-based tools is advantageous.
- Familiarity with programming environments beyond the JVM, including C++, Rust, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, .NET, or Go is beneficial.
- Profound practical experience in JVM development languages such as Kotlin or Java.
- Proven expertise in designing complex algorithms and handling performance-critical backend systems.
- Fluency in English for global team collaboration.
Success Milestones
- Within 3 months: Understand the Qodana codebase and IntelliJ Platform, delivering initial analysis rules and integrations.
- Within 6 months: Owning key analysis features, collaborating with aligned teams for effective solutions on complex codebases.
- Long-term: Influence the strategic technical direction of Qodana Core to elevate analysis performance and user experience.
