Role Overview
As a Senior Software Engineer at Nearform specializing in Python and AI, you will design and develop applications primarily using Python, while likely engaging with multiple projects involving various responsibilities. You'll work directly with clients and internal teams to transform complex business needs into effective digital products.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain application components with an emphasis on high personal technical standards.
- Contribute to defining and enforcing structured practices, especially around source code management, building, and deployment processes.
- Architect and implement data storage solutions.
- Optimize applications for speed and scalability.
- Gather and incorporate user and client feedback to enhance solutions.
- Assist in analyzing client requirements and technical specifications.
- Support Technical Leaders in project management and timely delivery.
- Collaborate closely with client teams to ensure alignment and successful outcomes.
Candidate Profile
- Proven track record delivering high-quality work at a senior engineering level.
- Extensive expertise in Python programming and familiarity with contemporary AI frameworks.
- Experience developing AI applications.
- Proficient in Agile development methodologies.
- Hands-on experience building practical, real-world solutions.
- Strong understanding of version control tools, particularly Git.
- Experience with testing at multiple levels including unit, integration, and end-to-end.
- Familiarity with databases and cloud platforms.
- Knowledge and experience in automation, continuous integration, and continuous deployment.
- Experience collaborating on software projects using pull requests and code reviews.
- Excellent communication abilities and teamwork skills.
- Fluency in English at a professional level.
Preferred Additional Skills
- Hands-on experience with Golang programming.
- Frontend development experience with React.
- In-depth knowledge of Kubernetes.
Work Conditions & Additional Info
This is a permanent, full-time position open to candidates residing in Ireland. Visa sponsorship is not provided for this role. Travel to client sites across the UK and Europe is required, with travel costs covered by the company.

Interview Process

- Hiring Manager interview (~45 minutes) addressing collaboration, client interaction, and development practices.
- Potential client interview depending on project needs.
The starting salary is €75,000 plus bonus and benefits, with exact compensation discussed in the initial interview based on experience.
