Role Overview

We are seeking a Technical Director to provide strategic and technical leadership across multiple projects, ensuring alignment with the organization's goals while advancing innovation and technical excellence. This role acts as a bridge between client objectives and technical delivery, participating in client engagement, team leadership, and financial oversight to foster long-term growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and communicate a cohesive technical vision, enforce best practices in architecture, software development, and emerging technologies, and make critical decisions on design and delivery.
  • Engage with senior client stakeholders including CIOs and CTOs to lead discovery workshops, translate business goals into technical strategies, and develop tailored solution proposals.
  • Monitor and oversee technical project execution, ensuring solutions are quality-driven, scalable, maintainable, and delivered successfully through proactive risk management.
  • Collaborate with resourcing teams to allocate the right talent to projects while mentoring and fostering a culture of excellence and innovation within teams.
  • Manage financial and operational aspects, including project burn-down, resource optimisation, and identifying opportunities for revenue growth.
  • Maintain thought leadership by staying current with industry developments, contributing to open source, participating in public speaking and writing, and advocating for diversity, equity, inclusion, and sustainability.

Candidate Profile

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in technical leadership roles, preferably within consulting, SaaS, or large-scale digital transformation environments.
  • In-depth understanding of software architecture, cloud platforms, and modern development methodologies.
  • Proven ability to guide technical decisions on complex and high-impact projects.
  • Experience leading pre-sales activities, discovery processes, and solution design engagements.
  • Strong communication skills to convey technical concepts effectively to non-technical audiences.
  • Consultative approach to align technology strategies with business needs.
  • Advanced stakeholder management and negotiation capabilities.
  • Hands-on expertise with AI technologies, databases, distributed systems, and contemporary software engineering best practices.
  • Leadership and mentoring experience with senior software teams.
  • A commitment to continuous learning, innovation, and professional growth.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in fully remote, globally distributed teams.
  • Background in managing financial aspects of technology projects.
  • Active participation in open-source communities or as a thought leader.
  • Familiarity with AI-driven solutions and emerging technological trends.

Benefits and Perks

  • Annual company bonus sharing profits according to organizational performance.
  • Flexible remote working arrangements supporting work-life balance.
  • 24 days of annual leave plus public holidays, along with additional leave types such as sick and marriage leave.
  • Remote working allowance up to €1250 every two years to support workspace setup.
  • Training and development allowance of up to €1000 for skill enhancement.
  • Private healthcare plan offerings for employee health and well-being.
  • 5% pension matching and additional insurance coverage, including income protection and death in service benefits.

Interview Process

  • Initial 30-minute introductory call to discuss background and mutual fit.
  • One-hour interview with the Head of Delivery or CTO focusing on delivery management and technical problem-solving.
  • 90-minute panel interview with Technical Directors including scenario-based leadership assessment.
  • 45-minute final conversation with the Managing Director to discuss role strategy and organization plans.
