Job description
About Magentus
Magentus is committed to advancing health through technology by creating intelligent workflows that enhance the connection between people, systems, and data. Our mission is to make healthcare more intelligent, efficient, and accessible by supporting clinicians, optimizing operations, and improving patient outcomes through digital innovation.
Role Overview
We are a global health technology company providing clinical systems across pathology, radiology, oncology, and maternity in Australia, UK, and Europe. Our key product, Gentu, is a cloud platform used daily by thousands of specialists. We are heavily investing in its ongoing development, which evolves continuously to meet user needs.
This role offers you the opportunity to directly impact clinical workflows that influence real patient care. The work you deliver will be visible and impactful in clinical settings.
Responsibilities
- Develop features that significantly affect how specialists manage their practices, from patient consultations to billing.
- Make informed architectural decisions for a cloud-based platform relied on by thousands of clinicians daily.
- Own the entire lifecycle of your code: deployment, real-time debugging, and iterative improvements based on usage insights beyond original specifications.
- Contribute not only to execution but also to strategic decisions about what to build and why within your team.
Candidate Profile
We seek innovative creators who are hands-on builders by nature, driven to experiment and build for the joy of making. Ideal candidates often contribute to open-source projects, develop side projects, or create prototypes to explore new ideas.
You should bring:
- Demonstrated experience in developing and deploying production-grade software.
- Proficiency with Ruby on Rails, TypeScript/Node.js, React, and AWS cloud services.
- Strong foundation in software engineering principles such as continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD), testing, system observability, and designing scalable systems.
- Comfort challenging existing ideas and actively participating in technical decision-making.
- Experience with AI-enhanced software development and AI agents.
- Bonus points for experience in healthcare or regulated industries.
Benefits and Culture
- Meaningful ownership of a platform central to thousands of specialist medical practices.
- High scale impact with over 22,000 specialists and 5,000+ practices using the platform.
- True hybrid remote work model with Brisbane as the anchor location but fully remote options available.
- A team culture valuing critical thinking and candid feedback to ensure solutions are effective.
- Support from Magentus combining startup agility with the stability of a global health technology company.
- Dedicated time every two weeks for personal projects, open-source contributions, and innovation outside the core roadmap.
- Flexible working arrangements to support work-life balance.
- Access to professional growth and learning opportunities.
- A welcoming and inclusive team environment.
- Chance to broaden skills by engaging with different areas of the business.
- Work with purpose, contributing directly to improving healthcare outcomes.
