Role Overview
We are searching for a Senior Front-End Engineer to join the Geneious team. You will lead the architecture and development of a complex, data-centric web application used worldwide by researchers and scientists. The role requires deep expertise in TypeScript and Angular to create scalable, high-performance, and user-friendly interfaces for sophisticated scientific workflows. This is a hybrid role based in Auckland, expecting 1-3 days presence in the office weekly.
Key Responsibilities
- Innovate and maintain the Angular front-end architecture, defining reusable component libraries and engineering guidelines to keep the product scalable and maintainable.
- Take comprehensive ownership of the user interface, including design, development, testing, deployment, and security within a DevSecOps framework.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams and clients to gather requirements, influence design choices, and iterate on solutions.
- Lead testing strategies, documentation practices, and mentoring of peers as a senior member of the cross-functional development team.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum 8 years of professional experience in designing production-quality web applications with significant exposure to front-end architecture.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or related fields, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Expert knowledge of TypeScript and Angular, including component-based architecture, reactive programming with RxJS, and effective state management.
- Proven experience designing scalable component libraries and shared front-end systems utilized across multiple teams.
- Strong skills in front-end performance tuning, ensuring accessibility, and ensuring cross-browser compatibility while making sound architectural decisions.
- Expertise with modern front-end development tooling, such as build systems, testing frameworks, continuous integration/deployment pipelines, and security best practices.
Desirable Skills
- Experience using AI-powered coding assistants to enhance development workflows.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools, custom charting techniques, or canvas-based HTML5 rendering.
- Background working with scientific, bioinformatics, or data-heavy web applications.
- Knowledge of cloud front-end deployments and CDN strategies, especially on AWS.
