Role Overview

Join Geneious, a Dotmatics division, that crafts pioneering software products for molecular biology. Our mission revolves around enabling the development of therapeutics and vaccines and combating climate change by assisting scientists worldwide. As a Java Software Engineer, you will be part of an agile team working on Geneious Prime, our flagship bioinformatics software, helping to design and build tools that manage biological data and cloud service integrations.

Key Responsibilities

• Incorporate novel algorithms to analyze biological sequence data.
• Create intuitive user tools to manage biological information integrated with cloud platforms.
• Develop and sustain Geneious Prime and additional Java-based applications.
• Engage collaboratively with customers and teammates to define needs and refine designs.
• Participate fully in a cross-functional team, including testing, documentation, and support duties as necessary.

Qualifications and Skills

Applicants should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or have a minimum of two years relevant professional experience. Although biological knowledge isn't mandatory, our scientist team supports learning in this area. Essential skills include:

• Proficiency with Java frameworks and libraries.
• Experience in UX/UI frontend or full-stack software development.
• Capability to manage complex codebases effectively.

Additional advantageous skills encompass familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline), automated testing principles, and agile development methodologies.
