Role Overview
The Senior Software Engineer role focuses on developing and enhancing Kasada's Virtual Machine (VM) and compiler technologies to defend against bot automation attacks. You will apply your compiler theory expertise to research and implement novel obfuscation methods using custom languages and VM architectures, collaborating closely with security research and engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize Kasada's Virtual Machine technology.
- Enhance various stages of the compiler toolchain for improved performance and security.
- Translate proof-of-concept security research into effective production solutions that bolster bot defense.
- Conduct research collaboratively with product and engineering teams to expand technical capabilities.
- Participate in architectural discussions to devise efficient and innovative defense mechanisms.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum three years in a senior software engineering role.
- Proficient understanding of compiler architectures and experience with compiler development.
- Familiarity with Abstract Syntax Trees (ASTs) and their manipulation.
- Practical knowledge of TypeScript and JavaScript programming languages.
- Excellent communication skills for articulating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong debugging aptitude and eagerness to investigate complex, unfamiliar issues.
- Experience in writing user-based automated tests.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of browser technologies including backward compatibility concerns.
- Background in cybersecurity principles or projects.
- Experience with client-side testing frameworks.
- Familiarity with Babel transpiler and virtual machine implementations.
