Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join the Singapore AI Innovation team. This role is central to shaping the future of minimally invasive surgical technology by developing digital surgery solutions that leverage machine learning and computer vision. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including machine learning engineers, designers, marketing, and product managers to deliver innovative applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with machine learning engineers, designers, marketing, and product managers throughout the lifecycle of digital surgery applications.
• Deploy machine learning models in multiple settings, such as prototypes, on-premises, and cloud environments.
• Design and implement scalable backend deployment architectures while selecting the best technologies suited to various deployment contexts.
• Take ownership of substantial product components and contribute to designing the next generation of product features and system architecture.
• Drive product strategy by innovating new features and improving system designs.
• Maintain high-quality software development standards and ensure operational excellence in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
• Develop and support backend solutions using AWS cloud technologies, including EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, and VPC networking.
• Implement secure data storage and access protocols in AWS, encompassing data encryption at rest and in transit, IAM-based access control, and secrets management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years’ professional experience in backend software development, with a focus on scalable distributed systems and APIs.
• At least 2 years’ direct experience coding in Python and collaborating with machine learning teams on deploying ML models in both on-premises and cloud architectures.
• In-depth knowledge of software development best practices, including coding standards, code reviews, version control, testing, and operational processes.
• Strong expertise in backend development and designing scalable systems.
• Familiarity with medical device technologies, medical imaging, and computer vision; experience with segmentation, image registration, and 3D reconstruction is advantageous.
• Proven ability to manage projects from requirements gathering through implementation and deployment.
• Effective communication skills to liaise with users, technical teams, and leadership regarding requirements and technical solutions.
• Willingness to travel internationally up to 25% as required by business needs.
