About the Role
MongoDB is seeking a seasoned Senior Software Engineer to become part of the Atlas Clusters team, the group behind MongoDB Atlas — our rapidly expanding Database-as-a-Service product. Atlas empowers customers to set up highly available, secure, and globally distributed MongoDB clusters within minutes. Your work will involve developing software that integrates seamlessly with leading cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform, ensuring excellence in security, reliability, performance, and availability for all MongoDB deployments.
A newly formed Atlas Clusters group is based in Dublin, operating under a hybrid work model, welcoming professionals located in the Dublin area.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement new capabilities for MongoDB Atlas, enhancing its product features.
- Lead and contribute significantly to technically intricate projects across the product landscape.
- Engage with cross-functional stakeholders within MongoDB to influence the product roadmap and offerings.
- Collaborate with both customers and support engineers to troubleshoot problems, participating actively in on-call support rotations.
- Work closely with teammates to improve the codebase, uphold best development practices, and uphold well-established design principles.
- Promote an inclusive, respectful workplace culture aligned with MongoDB's Core Values.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum six years of professional experience in software development.
- Demonstrated expertise in building large-scale distributed backend systems using compiled programming languages such as Go, Java, or C#.
- Practical experience with at least one major cloud provider technology: AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Proven track record of launching new software modules and sustaining them in production environments.
- A problem-solving mindset with enthusiasm for tackling challenging technical issues.
- Strong communication capabilities.
- A curious, collaborative, and driven attitude towards work and learning.
Measures of Success
- Within three months, you will have deployed production code and actively contributed to problem-solving alongside your team.
- By six months, you will have played a major role in a sizable project and joined the on-call support duties.
- Within a year, you will have led feature design and development, establishing yourself as a subject matter expert on system components.
