Senior Software Engineer, App Ads, Data and Measurement

About the Role

At Google, our software engineers create innovative technologies shaping the experiences of billions globally. Our projects span beyond search, covering areas such as information retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale systems, networking, security, AI, natural language processing, UI, and mobile development. This position is part of Google Ads, leading AI advancements using machine learning and Generative AI models like Gemini to support a multi-billion dollar enterprise. The role involves collaborating closely with teams including Google Research and DeepMind to tackle complex problems, improve ad quality, protect users, and optimize advertiser campaigns.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and test code for products or systems to ensure functionality and reliability.
• Engage in or lead design review sessions with colleagues and stakeholders to evaluate and select appropriate technologies.
• Conduct thorough code reviews to uphold best practices such as coding standards, code check-ins, accuracy, testability, and efficiency.
• Create and maintain documentation or educational resources, updating them in response to product changes and user feedback.
• Identify, debug, and resolve product or system issues by analyzing root causes and assessing effects on hardware, networking, and service performance.

Candidate Requirements

• Possess a bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Have at least 5 years of professional software development experience using one or more programming languages.
• Demonstrated minimum of 3 years experience in software testing, maintenance, or launching products, combined with at least 1 year experience in software system design and architecture.
• Have at least 3 years of back-end development expertise.

Preferred Qualifications

• Extensive experience (5 years) with data structures and algorithms.
• Familiarity with two or more areas: building large-scale software systems, distributed/paralleled systems, networking, web or mobile application development, Unix/Linux systems, or security-focused software.
• Experience in accessibility technology development.
