Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Software Development Manager based in Auckland to lead multiple engineering teams. This role involves mentoring both managers and engineers to foster a high-performance culture and dependable delivery outcomes. Collaboration with Product, Design, and Engineering leadership will be essential to synchronize roadmaps, tackle complex technical challenges, and enhance organizational engineering practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership directly to engineers and indirectly through managers across several teams.
- Coach and cultivate engineering leaders to maximize their potential.
- Collaborate closely with Product and Design teams to ensure alignment of strategies, roadmaps, and project deliveries.
- Establish clear goals and expectations, offer constructive feedback, and promote growth opportunities.
- Mitigate project risks and remove execution obstacles to maintain steady delivery progress.
- Engage hands-on with technology, including system design, code reviews, and coding in Golang as appropriate.
- Elevate engineering standards in quality, reliability, and continuous delivery processes.
- Guide teams through intricate technical decisions and balanced trade-offs.
- Champion improvements across the broader engineering organization.
- Foster strong partnerships within Engineering, Product, Design, and other business units.
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience leading and developing high-performing engineering teams and managers.
- Solid technical background with practical software engineering expertise.
- Demonstrated history of delivering complex software or SaaS products across multiple teams.
- Skill in delivering clear, actionable feedback and cultivating personnel growth.
- Sound judgment and confidence in knowing when to intervene or allow autonomy.
- Adaptability to dynamic environments where priorities, teams, and technologies evolve.
- Collaborative mindset engaging effectively with Product, Design, and other key stakeholders.
- Curiosity and enthusiasm for new technologies and continuous process improvements.
