Senior Software Development Manager

Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Software Development Manager based in Auckland to lead multiple engineering teams. This role involves mentoring both managers and engineers to foster a high-performance culture and dependable delivery outcomes. Collaboration with Product, Design, and Engineering leadership will be essential to synchronize roadmaps, tackle complex technical challenges, and enhance organizational engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide leadership directly to engineers and indirectly through managers across several teams.
• Coach and cultivate engineering leaders to maximize their potential.
• Collaborate closely with Product and Design teams to ensure alignment of strategies, roadmaps, and project deliveries.
• Establish clear goals and expectations, offer constructive feedback, and promote growth opportunities.
• Mitigate project risks and remove execution obstacles to maintain steady delivery progress.
• Engage hands-on with technology, including system design, code reviews, and coding in Golang as appropriate.
• Elevate engineering standards in quality, reliability, and continuous delivery processes.
• Guide teams through intricate technical decisions and balanced trade-offs.
• Champion improvements across the broader engineering organization.
• Foster strong partnerships within Engineering, Product, Design, and other business units.

• Proven experience leading and developing high-performing engineering teams and managers.
• Solid technical background with practical software engineering expertise.
• Demonstrated history of delivering complex software or SaaS products across multiple teams.
• Skill in delivering clear, actionable feedback and cultivating personnel growth.
• Sound judgment and confidence in knowing when to intervene or allow autonomy.
