Senior Software Development Manager

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Development Manager to join our Auckland-based team. This role involves leading multiple engineering teams, mentoring managers and engineers, and fostering an environment that drives high performance and dependable delivery. You will collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Engineering leadership to coordinate roadmaps, handle complex technical challenges, and enhance the engineering organization as a whole.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct leadership for engineers and managers across various teams.
• Mentoring and developing leadership skills within your teams.
• Aligning product strategy and delivery in partnership with Product and Design.
• Establishing clarity through defined expectations, constructive feedback, and growth opportunities.
• Ensuring smooth delivery by removing obstacles, managing risks, and supporting reliable execution.
• Maintaining technical engagement via system design, code reviews, and hands-on Golang programming when needed.
• Raising engineering standards regarding quality, reliability, and continuous delivery.
• Navigating complex technical decisions and guiding teams on trade-offs.
• Driving organizational improvements throughout engineering.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships across departments including Engineering, Product, and Design.

Qualifications and Expertise

• Proven experience leading and developing high-performing engineering teams, inclusive of other leadership roles.
• Strong technical background with hands-on software development experience.
• Track record of managing complex software or SaaS product deliveries across multiple teams.
• Skillful at providing clear feedback and fostering professional growth.
• Sound judgment with the ability to know when to intervene or delegate.
• Adaptability to evolving priorities, teams, and technologies.
• Collaborative working style with cross-functional teams like Product and Design.
• Curiosity for emerging technologies and continuous improvement in work methodologies.
