Position Overview

CGI is looking for a seasoned Senior Security Architect to lead cybersecurity architecture and design initiatives, providing expert technical guidance. The role involves defining secure solution architectures, evaluating technology risks, and ensuring security controls are integrated across infrastructure, applications, networks, and data solutions throughout their lifecycle.

Location and Work Model

This full-time position requires working on-site five days a week at the Dartmouth/Halifax, Nova Scotia location. Candidates must meet Canadian residency requirements of 5+ years and be eligible for Reliability and/or Secret clearance along with compliance with the Canadian Controlled Goods Program.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design and establish cybersecurity architectures, standards, and security requirements.
  • Oversee security architectures across infrastructure, network, application, cloud, and data projects.
  • Conduct security architecture reviews, technical assessments, and risk evaluations.
  • Detect threats, vulnerabilities, and security risks, recommending suitable mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and maintain security requirements aligning with solution design and implementation.
  • Apply principles of defense-in-depth, least privilege, and zero trust within security designs.
  • Set security controls for identity and access management (IAM), privileged access management (PAM), network segmentation, encryption, logging, monitoring, vulnerability management, and endpoint protection.
  • Participate in architecture and technical design review boards.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including Enterprise Architects, Network Architects, infrastructure, application, project management, and security operations teams.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and vendor solutions from a cybersecurity perspective.
  • Support activities related to vulnerability management, security monitoring, and incident response.
  • Ensure compliance with client, contractual, and Government of Canada security requirements.
  • Produce documentation such as security architecture blueprints, technical risk assessments, standards, and security design documents.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to cybersecurity and project teams.
  • Drive continual improvements in cybersecurity architecture and overall security posture.

Required Qualifications

  • Over 10 years of progressive IT experience, including extensive roles in cybersecurity architecture, engineering, or security design.
  • Proven track record designing security solutions for complex enterprise environments.
  • In-depth understanding of security architecture concepts, specifically defense-in-depth, least privilege, and zero trust methodologies.
  • Strong knowledge of network, infrastructure, endpoint, identity, application, and data security domains.
  • Experience conducting security assessments, threat modeling, and detailed technical risk analyses.
  • Familiarity with major cybersecurity frameworks and standards such as NIST Cybersecurity Framework, ISO/IEC 27001, and CIS Controls.
  • Knowledge of Government of Canada IT security standards is highly advantageous.
  • Experience with IAM/PAM systems, SIEM tools, vulnerability management, firewalls, endpoint security solutions, and encryption technologies.
  • Expertise in cloud and hybrid-cloud security is a plus.
  • Professional cybersecurity certifications including CISSP, CISM, CCSP, or SABSA are strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively relay security risks to both technical personnel and executive leadership.
  • Background in defense, federal government, shipbuilding, or other security-sensitive industries is considered highly valuable.

Compensation

The estimated salary range for this position is between $75,000 and $145,000 annually. This range depends on skill level, market, experience, training, and certifications. Compensation decisions will be based on individual circumstances.
