Role Summary

The role of Senior Scientist in Speech and Language entails pioneering efforts in speech and language technology. Serving as a vital link between research and product development, this position supports innovations in automatic speech recognition, natural language understanding, speech synthesis, and conversational AI systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead innovative research in speech and audio domains, including speech recognition, synthesis, audio enhancement, speaker identification, and spatial audio technologies.
• Design, develop, model, and rigorously test novel audio and speech processing algorithms leveraging machine learning, digital signal processing, and computer vision techniques.
• Collaborate intensively with multidisciplinary teams such as software engineers, product managers, and user experience designers to translate research findings into practical applications.
• Enhance model and algorithm accuracy addressing real-world deployment challenges, coordinating multiple teams for effective problem resolution.
• Identify and propose AI-driven solutions aimed at boosting operational efficiencies for target clients.
• Invent and optimize complex algorithms in audio-focused areas like speech recognition, text-to-speech conversion, and speaker recognition.

Qualifications

• Doctorate degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related fields specializing in speech and audio signal processing, or equivalent professional expertise.
• Documented history of published research in peer-reviewed venues within speech and audio processing disciplines.
• Proficiency with machine learning platforms such as PyTorch and TensorFlow and programming prowess in Python and C++.
• Deep understanding of signal processing principles and state-of-the-art deep learning methodologies applied to speech and audio tasks.
• Experience handling large datasets and operating distributed computing environments.
• Publications in notable conferences or journals including but not limited to CVPR, ECCV, NIPS, ICASSP, and InterSpeech.

Preferred Expertise

• Hands-on experience with real-time audio systems or implementations in augmented/virtual reality, accessibility, or social interaction platforms.
• Knowledge of multilingual or limited-resource speech recognition methodologies.
• Familiarity with unsupervised or self-supervised learning methods for speech/audio representation.
• Understanding of privacy-focused techniques in audio data handling.
• Track record of mentoring junior researchers or coordinating collaborative projects.
