About PayByPhone

PayByPhone is powered by a talented and motivated multi-disciplinary team committed to simplifying everyday mobility. The company emphasizes collaborative innovation, ongoing learning, and an engaging workplace culture. Currently expanding, PayByPhone serves more than 60 million users across North America and Europe, enabling quick, easy, and secure payments without the need for change or waiting in lines.

Role Overview

Located in Vancouver, BC, this full-time permanent role reports to the Director of Sales within the North American Commercial organization. The Senior Sales Development Representative (SDR) focuses exclusively on the Mobile Payments product line serving government and public sector customers—such as municipalities, transit authorities, universities, airports—and private parking operators.

This role is strictly prospecting focused: generating and qualifying leads through outbound and inbound channels including phone, email, and social media, while prioritizing target accounts and booking qualified meetings for Regional Sales Directors. Given government purchasing complexities, the SDR must adeptly adapt outreach to align with varying budget and procurement cycles.

Responsibilities

  • Assess inbound sales inquiries and determine appropriate next steps and support.
  • Arrange meetings and transfer qualified prospects to suitable sales personnel.
  • Where fitting, retain prospects and support closing sales.
  • Nurture opportunities in secondary markets to achieve closures.
  • Develop targeted prospecting campaigns through phone and email outreach.
  • Maintain prospect status, data, and interaction records accurately within Salesforce.
  • Collaborate with Regional Sales Directors to craft strategies targeting prospects.
  • Compile reports and dashboards illustrating Commercial team activities.
  • Report monthly key performance indicators linked to new business pipeline.
  • Quickly adopt and utilize software tools including MS Office, Salesforce, Power BI, Looker, and LinkedIn Sales Navigator.
  • Refine lead generation processes and enhance commercial team reporting.
  • Conduct focused market research and document insights in Salesforce.
  • Execute special projects assigned by the Director of Sales.
  • Use Salesforce, GovSpend, AI-driven prospecting tools, and others to build targeted lists and run outbound campaigns.
  • Maintain consistent and disciplined outreach rhythms across multiple communication channels.
  • Work closely with sales leadership to align messages and prioritize territories.
  • Innovate effective methods to schedule meetings beyond traditional calls and emails.

Candidate Requirements

  • Minimum three years of experience in sales, sales development, marketing, account management, or customer service.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced and rapidly evolving environments.
  • Demonstrated experience with high-volume outbound calls and emails.
  • Skilled at quickly gathering and synthesizing information from diverse sources to produce accurate reports.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and advanced Google research capabilities.
  • Proven aptitude for rapidly learning new software applications.
  • Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM systems; ability to generate Salesforce reports is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of Power BI or other analytics platforms is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with sales engagement and prospecting platforms, such as GovSpend and AI-powered tools, is a plus.
  • Preferably experienced in targeting government or public sector accounts including municipalities, transit agencies, higher education institutions, and airports.
  • Understanding of government/public sector procurement processes, including RFPs, cooperative agreements, and fiscal year budgeting, is helpful.
  • Background in software or technology sectors is preferred.
  • Parking industry experience is a bonus but not required.
  • Post-secondary education is an asset but not mandatory.

Compensation and Benefits

The anticipated base salary for this position ranges from $80,000 to $85,000 CAD, contingent on experience, skills, and qualifications.

  • Access to retirement savings programs (RRSP for Canadian employees).
  • Starting vacation entitlement of four weeks per year for all permanent full-time employees.
  • Option to work remotely for up to 15 days annually, subject to management and IT security approval.
  • Five personal days each year in addition to paid sick days to promote work-life balance.
  • Comprehensive medical and dental insurance coverage.
  • Employee Assistance Program offering confidential support and resources.
  • Opportunities for professional development and career advancement.

Company Culture and Values

The company champions diversity, equity, and inclusiveness by ensuring respect and fairness throughout the workplace and hiring processes.
