Senior Road Engineer (Mega Civil Project)

About the Role

We are looking for a highly experienced Senior Road Engineer to join our Project and Construction Management team based in Riyadh. This position is part of the Infrastructure Division, focusing on Civil Engineering and Transportation projects such as roads, highways, bridges, and tunnels in urban settings. The engineer will take charge of all technical facets of road works including quality assurance, drawing reviews, value engineering, and revising construction methods. Coordination with senior specialists across related disciplines like structures, drainage, ITS, and materials management is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage technical quality control for all road construction activities and collaborate with discipline specialists and quality control leads.
• Resolve or escalate design issues, coordinating with home office when necessary.
• Provide technical guidance on design modifications.
• Supervise contractor submissions, shop drawings, materials, and design inputs for conformity.
• Conduct final reviews of contractor drawings, schedules, and material submittals to ensure alignment with project design objectives.
• Evaluate and report on Value Engineering proposals from a technical standpoint.
• Serve as the liaison between the Road Engineering department and the Technical Manager.

Candidate Profile

• Possess a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Road Design or equivalent practical experience.
• Hold recognized professional qualifications or memberships such as RICS, IQS, ICES, or CIOB.
• Have over 15 years of experience in project management, particularly in large-scale construction projects focused on consultancy work (exclusive contractor experience is not acceptable).
• Demonstrated participation in one or more road projects; candidates lacking clear road engineering experience will not be considered.
• Experience in design, with a well-rounded understanding of construction, design, and engineering principles.
• Familiarity with local building codes, regulatory frameworks, and safety standards.
• Proficiency in English is required; Arabic language skills are advantageous.
• Excellent reporting, communication, and interpersonal skills, along with teamwork, problem-solving, independence, flexibility, and technical discipline.
• Motivation to work within a multinational corporate environment.
• Additional prerequisites include transferable Iqama for non-Saudi applicants, residency in Riyadh, and a valid membership with the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE).
