Key Responsibilities

  • Develop bottom-up forecasts early in contracts.
  • Manage subcontractor and material procurement timelines.
  • Draft Invitations to Tender (ITT) and engagement terms for subcontractors and consultancy services.
  • Ensure monthly project costs are accurately recorded, including accrual calculations.
  • Maintain current Cost to Complete and Risk Analysis registers for projects.
  • Prepare monthly Cost Variation Reports and other project reports.
  • Optimize cash flows via work-in-progress control and improvement strategies.
  • Identify commercial risks, opportunities, and value engineering options.
  • Lead cost control, mitigation efforts, and cost challenge processes.
  • Measure quantities following standard measurement methods.
  • Prepare valuations and payment applications supported by contractual documentation.
  • Manage contract administration, including changes and register upkeep.
  • Maintain effective client relations and communication.
  • Negotiate and finalize compensation events.
  • Oversee subcontractor and supplier accounts from requisition to final account agreement.
  • Keep accurate site records.
  • Contribute to business development activities including PQQ technical writing.
  • Advise on insurance matters, including Professional Indemnity issues.
  • Support and manage junior commercial team members.
  • Promote health, safety, and environmental best practices in coordination with SHESQ department.

Candidate Profile

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Economics.
  • Preferably Chartered Quantity Surveyor status (MRICS) or equivalent.
  • Valid full driving license.
  • Strong commercial awareness.
  • Familiarity with NEC3, NEC4, and FIDIC contracts.
  • Knowledge of CESSM4 measurement standards.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Experience in programming, project controls, risk management, contract administration, procurement, cost control, and claims.
  • Experience in the water sector and civil engineering is advantageous.
