About the Role
Our client in Tralee is seeking a seasoned Senior Quantity Surveyor to become part of their commercial team. This role involves overseeing a variety of construction and civil engineering projects with a focus on managing project costs, commercial success, and contractual obligations. Joining this established Irish contractor offers an opportunity to work within a company dedicated to quality, efficiency, and effective project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee cost and commercial management of assigned projects from tender to final account.
- Develop budgets, cost plans, forecasts, and produce regular commercial reports.
- Handle procurement processes, analyze tenders, and negotiate with subcontractors.
- Track project expenditures, changes, valuations, claims, and overall financial health.
- Recognize and manage commercial risks and uncover new opportunities.
- Communicate effectively with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and project teams internally.
- Assist with contract administration and help resolve commercial disputes.
- Mentor and support junior commercial team members.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possess a degree or accredited qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a related field.
- Have at least five years of relevant Quantity Surveying experience, preferably with a main contractor or in civil engineering.
- Well-versed in cost management, procurement, contract administration, and the Irish construction sector.
- Demonstrate strong commercial insight, analytical ability, negotiation skills, and effective communication.
- Experienced with commercial and construction-related software tools.
- Chartered status with SCSI/RICS or progressing towards chartership is advantageous.
