About the Role
The Public Affairs team at United Internet AG, located in Berlin and Brussels, serves as the strategic liaison between politics, business, regulation, and key issues of digital transformation. In a geopolitical and regulatory landscape that is constantly evolving, our focus is to advocate for innovation-friendly and competitive frameworks. The role predominantly involves shaping discourse on digital sovereignty and sustainable digital infrastructures in Europe, particularly in the areas of cloud computing, data, and cybersecurity.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and nurture strong relationships with political decision-makers and key stakeholders at both federal and state levels, while strategically expanding your network.
- Lead the preparation and follow-up for political meetings and conversations, ensuring both substance and strategy are thoroughly addressed.
- Develop and oversee targeted public affairs strategies within your thematic focus areas.
- Monitor and analyze political and regulatory developments, especially legislative processes, to identify actionable opportunities.
- Formulate well-founded positions and statements in close coordination with relevant corporate entities and departments, representing these views to political stakeholders.
- Ensure consistent and tailored reporting on political developments to relevant audiences.
- Represent the company within associations, committees, and at political or industry-related events.
- Design and manage external event formats and political forums.
Candidate Profile
- Completed Master’s degree in economics, political science, law, or a comparable field.
- At least 10 years of professional experience in political advocacy, whether in corporations, associations, institutions, or politics.
- Extensive experience engaging with political institutions at federal or state levels, supported by a robust network of political contacts.
- Preferably familiar with the European regulatory environment and experienced in cooperation with EU bodies.
- Strong strategic acumen with the ability to proactively recognize, assess, and translate political and regulatory trends into practical recommendations.
- Excellent analytical skills with competence in effectively communicating complex issues to various audiences.
- Proven team player with exceptional stakeholder management skills, able to align diverse interests within the company and represent them cohesively externally.
- Experienced and confident in representing company positions to political decision-makers and engaging in negotiations within political environments.
- High political judgment, discretion, and sensitivity when handling confidential matters.
- Demonstrates strong self-responsibility, a structured approach to work, and the ability to prioritize multiple concurrent topics.
- Outstanding communication skills and a confident, persuasive demeanor; fluency in both German and English, spoken and written.
