About the Team and Organization
Join the skilled Psychology Services team at Royal Hobart Hospital, Tasmania's largest medical facility and major centre for clinical training and research. Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Psychologist to provide high-level clinical assessment, formulation, and evidence-supported therapy for adult and elderly inpatients. You will collaborate closely with clinical, neuro-, and health psychologists and a broader multidisciplinary team of allied health, nursing, and medical staff. The role includes supervision, mentoring, and support for psychology colleagues and students, along with contributions to educational programs, quality improvement, and service enhancement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough psychological assessments and deliver therapeutic interventions to adult hospital inpatients.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for holistic patient care.
- Mentor and supervise junior psychologists and students to foster professional development.
- Participate in educational activities, quality improvement, and service development projects.
- Exercise autonomous professional judgement in a dynamic healthcare environment.
Experience and Skills Required
- Proven experience with contemporary psychological assessments and interventions in healthcare settings.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities for effective collaboration and patient engagement.
- Capability in supervision and support of psychology professionals in training.
- Strong written communication skills for preparing detailed clinical documentation.
- Adaptability to complex and evolving clinical environments.
- Commitment to continuous quality improvement and service advancement.
Employment Details
- Permanent full-time role, standard hours 76 per fortnight, with possible negotiation on hours.
- Located onsite at Royal Hobart Hospital, Hobart, Tasmania.
Compensation and Benefits
- Annual salary between $117,272 and $126,182 plus 12% employer superannuation contribution.
- Salary packaging options including up to $9,010 for living expenses and $2,650 for meal entertainment yearly, subject to eligibility.

Eligibility Criteria
- Approved tertiary psychology qualification recognized by the Psychology Board of Australia.
- Current registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.
- Where applicable, registration to work with vulnerable populations.
- Desirable qualifications include clinical, neuropsychology, or health psychology endorsements, relevant postgraduate degrees, and board-approved supervisor status.
