Job Overview
Seeking a Senior Procurement Engineer specializing in MEP to oversee the technical and commercial procurement processes for large building and infrastructure projects. This role requires steering supplier strategies, managing cost and risks, and offering expert operational and technical support to achieve department goals within a challenging construction setting.
Primary Duties
- Lead the assessment of technical bids, tenders, and comparison sheets to ensure full compliance with engineering and project technical requirements.
- Formulate and implement procurement strategies for major project components; manage supplier negotiations and framework contracts involving substantial value.
- Collaborate extensively with Engineering, QA/QC, and Project Management teams to address technical inquiries, expedite submittals, and confirm adherence to project criteria.
- Maintain strict compliance of procurement technical documentation, contract terms, and records with organizational procedures and project specifications.
- Prepare and update comprehensive procurement status reports, track milestones, and conduct commercial evaluations to inform leadership with transparent visibility.
Experience and Qualifications
- Must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
- Possess over eight years of procurement experience in the construction or contracting sectors, including leadership roles in sizeable projects.
- Demonstrated success working within Qatar or the GCC region.
- Capable of generating technical reports, synthesizing data, and monitoring package progress effectively.
- Knowledgeable about supplier markets, construction materials, engineering submittal processes, and contractual conditions.
- Skilled in using ERP or procurement software and advanced Microsoft Excel functions.
- Exceptional negotiation aptitude, communication proficiency, and ability to manage multiple stakeholders effectively.
