Senior Process Engineer (Operations Engineering)

Primary Role

• Deliver daily support for process optimization by monitoring process and utility system performance to meet production goals and product standards.
• Provide recommendations to operations when deviations occur and evaluate chemical performance through systematic assessments, coordinating with chemical suppliers to identify improvement candidates.
• Lead the Panel Review Meeting for all Technical Management of Change (MoC) proposals, categorizing them into internal projects under Dukhan Operation, RES, or Project Initiation Notes (PIN) for VP projects based on initial evaluation.
• Draft project initiation note statements of requirements (PIN-SOR), ensuring alignment with VP procedures, QatarEnergy policies, Shell Design and Engineering Practices, and approved standards to meet asset owner requirements.
• Conduct adequacy assessments of existing facilities focusing on optimization, identifying bottlenecks and reliability constraints by applying best practice process optimization methods to improve operational integrity.
• Identify and select technology alternatives for feasibility and concept optimization studies to achieve business objectives; participate in external study reviews and provide necessary input.
• Assess both established and innovative processes and technologies to advance operational efficiency, maintenance, or health, safety, and environmental outcomes through projects and field trials.
• Offer process engineering support during FEED and EPIC project phases including preparation and review of deliverables such as heat and material balances (HMB), PFDs, P&IDs, datasheets, process descriptions, and line lists for process and utility systems.
• Define and assess operational and integrity envelope philosophies for process and utility systems covering various operating modes like normal steady state, transient states (startup, shutdown, upset), and pressure relief scenarios.

Qualifications and Experience

• A Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Process Engineering (B.Sc., B.Tech, or B.E.).
• 10 to 12 years of experience in the Oil & Gas sector, including at least 8 years as a Senior Process Engineer.
• Hands-on experience with process optimization, concept engineering, detailed design, commissioning, and startup of oil and gas facilities is essential, with additional advantage given to those knowledgeable in preparing feasibility studies and project engineering.
• Proficient in written and spoken English with excellent communication skills.
