Job description
Job Overview
This position is responsible for overseeing budget control services within the Engineering Department. Key duties include managing CAPEX and OPEX budgets, processing AFEs, handling invoices, and asset capitalization activities in alignment with company policies.
Responsibilities
- Manage preparation and accurate mapping of Annual Work Programs and Budget packs (including CAPEX, OPEX, and Non-Routine budgets) within SAP systems.
- Draft and process Budget Revisions and Supplementary Budgets ensuring all justifications and supporting documents are valid and thorough.
- Create AFEs accurately and ensure alignment with company policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance and enforce approved Budget Control Procedures and Work Instructions.
- Review and advise on reallocation journal entries and expenditure postings in SAP FI, confirming correct allocation to AFE numbers and WBS Elements.
- Collaborate closely with cost, planning, and project teams to guarantee timely and proper recording of expenditures via Service Entry Sheets.
- Support project teams by resolving budget-related concerns and facilitating invoice processing for payment within set timelines.
- Provide valid justification for monthly and quarterly budget variances, and coordinate mitigation measures with the project teams.
- Monitor project status, CWIP, and Completion Certificates to assure capitalization complies with company policies.
- Participate proactively in continuous improvements related to budget control processes.
- Prepare ad-hoc budget and cost analysis reports as required.
- Offer on-the-job coaching and professional development support to Qatari staff members.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in financial accounting or professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, CGMA, or equivalent.
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in project cost budget control.
- Proficient working knowledge of SAP, particularly PS and MM modules, is essential.
- Strong skills in MS Office applications, especially Excel and PowerPoint, and familiarity with databases.
