Team Overview

You will join a dedicated team committed to maintaining system stability, enhancing performance, and scaling our infrastructure. Current projects include modularizing our codebase and building a resilient, self-healing background process system. Role Responsibilities

As a Senior PostgreSQL Engineer, your main focus will be working with the latest PostgreSQL versions, the primary database backend for our Ruby on Rails application. The role involves scaling, optimizing, and sharding our database ecosystem to support rapid product growth. Key responsibilities include analyzing database performance, understanding current workloads, managing connections, monitoring system resource usage, tuning PostgreSQL configurations (preferably within AWS environments), and estimating capacity requirements to assist DevOps with provisioning.

Additional Interests

• Experience working with geographically distributed databases across multiple regions or data centers.
• Familiarity with teams utilizing Object-Relational Mappers (ORMs), specifically ActiveRecord in Rails, or other application frameworks.

Candidate Profile

Mandatory Qualifications:

• At least five years of hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, including planning and provisioning database instances.
• Proven ability managing PostgreSQL performance tailored to workload demands.
• Commercial expertise deploying databases, particularly on public cloud platforms such as AWS and RDS.
• Development experience with PostgreSQL databases operating at scale.

Workday Commitment and Culture

Our pay range for this role in Ireland is €86,400 to €129,600 annually, dependent on expertise and qualifications. The compensation package may also include bonuses and stock grants. Our flexible work model combines remote work and in-person collaboration, requiring at least 50% presence in the office or with customers each quarter to foster strong connections and teamwork.
