Team Overview
The team you'll join is tasked with maintaining system stability, enhancing performance, and scaling engineering practices. Role Summary
As a Senior PostgreSQL Engineer, you will work with the latest PostgreSQL versions serving as the primary data store for our Ruby on Rails application. Your main responsibilities involve scaling, optimizing, and sharding our database infrastructure to support significant product growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and understand database performance and workload characteristics
- Manage connection pooling and monitor system resource usage on database servers
- Recommend and implement monitoring tools and related solutions
- Fine-tune and configure PostgreSQL databases, ideally within AWS environments
- Estimate capacity requirements and assist DevOps in provisioning resources appropriately
Additional Experience Valued
- Handling databases distributed across multiple regions or data centers
- Collaborating with development teams using ORMs like ActiveRecord in Rails or other application frameworks
Candidate Profile
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience working with PostgreSQL including planning and provisioning database instances
- Proven commercial expertise in managing PostgreSQL performance tailored to workload demands
- Experience deploying databases in cloud environments, preferably AWS and RDS
- Development experience with PostgreSQL in highly scaled systems

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position in Ireland is €86,400 to €129,600 per year. The final offer depends on experience, skills, education, role demands, work location, and business needs. Additional compensation may include bonuses and stock awards. Workday provides a comprehensive benefits package.
Work Arrangement
