Position Overview

As a Senior Platform Engineer focused on the Communication Server, you will oversee the maintenance and enhancement of our z/OS mainframe network infrastructure. This role is vital in guaranteeing the communication environment’s reliability, security, and high performance, covering technologies such as VTAM, TCP/IP, SNA, Sysplex, and cryptographic services.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and manage z/OS Communication Server components including VTAM, TCP/IP, SNA, Sysplex Distributor, Parallel Sysplex, and Cryptographic Services.
• Implement and maintain security protocols like AT-TLS (z/OS Policy Agent), SSL, SFTP, FTPS, and Connect Direct.
• Collaborate closely with application and network teams to integrate z/OS Communication Server technologies with WebSphere Servers and other middleware.
• Utilize z/OS Unix System Services to bridge mainframe and distributed environments.
• Monitor system performance and apply tuning measures to enhance network throughput and responsiveness.
• Support mainframe networking, participate in capacity and disaster recovery planning.
• Engage in on-call duties, weekend assignments, and customer-focused implementation work.
• Keep abreast of advancements in mainframe communication technologies to recommend and deploy best practices.

Candidate Profile

• A minimum of 4 years' experience as a z/OS Systems Programmer with emphasis on Communication Server technologies.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively with vendors, internal teams, and management.
• Strong problem-solving aptitude for quick and thorough resolution of issues.
• In-depth knowledge of z/OS mainframe communication environments.
• Experience with third-party vendor products (IBM, Broadcom) is advantageous.
• Familiarity with IBM monitoring tools such as Netview and NetMaster for File Transfer and TCP/IP is a plus.
• Competence in installing, supporting, and troubleshooting third-party software.
• Programming skills in JCL and REXX; additional languages are beneficial.
