Overview
Join Lex & Winkle as a Senior Platform Engineer, spearheading the development and security of platforms that transform AI and geospatial intelligence into practical products for sectors including renewable energy, insurance, defense, government, and property. This pivotal role uniquely combines backend development, cloud infrastructure, and DevSecOps responsibilities, providing an opportunity to build foundational technology within an innovative Australian startup expanding into the US.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage backend services, APIs, and essential platform components primarily in Python.
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable AWS cloud infrastructure and production environments.
- Utilize Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and automate Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Manage container orchestration using Kubernetes and Docker ecosystems.
- Implement cloud security practices, including Identity and Access Management (IAM) and DevSecOps methodologies.
- Support customer-facing applications and integrations, ensuring robustness and responsiveness.
- Oversee platform monitoring, observability, incident response, and build resilience measures.
- Handle MLOps tasks and maintain AI/geospatial production workloads.
- Optimize cloud systems for performance efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Deliver secure software rollout processes and ensure platform reliability.
Qualifications and Experience
- Hands-on experience managing production cloud infrastructure environments with a strong backend development background in Python.
- Proven expertise spanning both application and platform engineering domains.
- Experience with FastAPI, API and backend architecture, AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker, and DevSecOps practices.
- Familiarity with CI/CD automation, IAM configurations, distributed systems, and cloud-native software development.
- Preferably experience in SaaS, AI-driven products, data-intensive applications, geospatial systems, or working within government and defense sectors.
- Ability to deliver secure, reliable, and operationally resilient solutions quickly without compromising quality.
- Strong commercial acumen to align technical solutions with business user needs effectively.
- Australian citizenship and eligibility for Australian Government security clearance; NV1 clearance or above highly desirable.
