Job Overview
WSP is seeking an experienced Senior Planner to take charge of planning and scheduling activities on a significant roads and highways construction project situated in Riyadh. In this senior role, you will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and various stakeholders to devise detailed project plans, set timelines, allocate necessary resources, and continuously track project progress.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the creation of comprehensive project plans encompassing scope, work breakdown structures, schedules, and resource allocation in coordination with project teams.
- Construct and sustain project timelines with the assistance of project management software, ensuring synchronization with project goals and milestones.
- Liaise with resource managers to allocate personnel and materials efficiently, maximizing resource use across concurrent projects.
- Identify and analyze project risks and constraints that may threaten deadlines or budgets; develop and implement mitigation plans.
- Track project advancement relative to schedules and milestones, anticipating and addressing any deviations or setbacks promptly.
- Deliver timely updates on project status, potential risks, and issues to teams, stakeholders, and senior leadership through reports and presentations.
- Engage collaboratively with internal and external parties to incorporate feedback, address disputes, and ensure project alignment with organizational objectives.
- Verify that planning efforts meet quality benchmarks, adhere to recognized best practices, and comply with regulatory requirements.
- Continuously seek and lead improvements in planning methodologies, tools, and processes to enhance overall effectiveness.
- Mentor junior planners, offering guidance and training to foster professional growth and maintain uniform planning standards across the organization.
Qualifications and Expertise
- Possess a bachelor's degree in engineering, project management, construction management, or a related discipline; advanced degrees are an asset.
- Bring at least 20 years of progressive experience in project planning and scheduling, ideally focused on roads and highways construction projects.
- Demonstrated proficiency in industry-standard project management software such as Microsoft Project or Primavera P6.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with aptitude for interpreting complex project demands and limitations.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively influence stakeholders at multiple organizational levels.
- Effective leadership skills, including team motivation, conflict resolution, and achievement of results through collaboration.
- Comprehensive knowledge of project management methodologies, best practices, and relevant tools.
- Awareness of applicable regulations, industry standards, and best practices specific to project planning and scheduling.
- Project management certifications like PMP or PRINCE2 are highly desirable.
- Demonstrated dedication to ongoing learning and professional advancement within project management.
