Overview
FileCloud seeks a motivated Senior PHP Backend Developer based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to be part of their Growth & Expansion team. This position involves developing robust server-side functionality and scalable cloud services, working entirely from the Riyadh office with collaboration across a global team.

FileCloud is a highly secure Enterprise File Sync and Share (EFSS) platform providing top-tier features like compliance, data governance, data leak prevention, data retention, and digital rights management. Trusted by Global 1000 firms, educational institutions, governments, and service providers worldwide, FileCloud’s product suite also includes Signority, a Canadian e-signature and document workflow platform acquired in May 2024. The company is growing its engineering team to expand and enhance its offerings.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop reliable, efficient software to enhance existing products
- Utilize technologies and tools such as PHPStorm, MongoDB, NodeJS, AWS/AZURE, Git, Memcache, PHPUnit, Solr, and more
- Address architectural challenges for feature implementation
- Integrate solutions with databases, file systems, and cloud platforms
- Diagnose and resolve customer-reported issues while providing software patches
- Collaborate and share expertise with fellow software engineers
Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years of professional software engineering experience
- At least 3 years’ experience in web application development and PHP programming
- Solid understanding of client-server architecture, automation testing, object-oriented programming, and design patterns
- Proficient with PHP ecosystems including PHP 8.2+, Composer, and PHPUnit
- Experience with web protocols and standards such as HTTP, XML, and REST
- Strong communication skills and fluent in English, both written and spoken
- Familiarity and comfort in using AI-based coding assistants like Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or Cursor in daily workflows
Preferred Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
- Experience with modern PHP frameworks
- Knowledge of enterprise system architectures, including patterns, eventing, and message queues
- Understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases, particularly MongoDB
- Basic front-end technology familiarity: JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3
- Acquainted with CI/CD pipelines (preferably Jenkins), Docker, SOLR, and Redis
- Development experience with NodeJS, JavaScript, and TypeScript
