Job description
Job Overview
We seek a seasoned Oracle Database Administrator to oversee, maintain, secure, and enhance the performance of enterprise Oracle database systems. This position demands extensive practical knowledge of Oracle RAC, Data Guard, RMAN, Exadata, GoldenGate (OGG), Engineered Systems, and Linux/Unix platforms. The DBA will ensure database uptime, optimize performance, manage backups and restores, troubleshoot issues, and support migrations, upgrades, and production environments.
Primary Responsibilities
- Install, configure, upgrade, patch, and support Oracle databases along with related tools.
- Monitor database health metrics including performance, capacity, availability, and security.
- Manage Oracle RAC clusters, Data Guard setups, RMAN backups, Exadata systems, GoldenGate replication, and engineered hardware.
- Conduct performance tuning of databases, optimizing queries and refining schemas.
- Diagnose and resolve database problems swiftly, especially for critical production incidents.
- Implement backup strategies, disaster recovery plans, and ensure high availability.
- Support database migrations, cloning, upgrades, and routine maintenance tasks.
- Collaborate with development teams for SQL tuning and database schema improvements.
- Automate repetitive DBA workflows for greater operational efficiency.
- Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, logs, change management records, and operational procedures.
- Assist with application releases, deployments, maintenance, and production changes, sometimes outside regular operating hours.
- Provide 24x7 on-call assistance for critical production database environments.
- Advise on technical enhancements to improve database reliability, scalability, security, and performance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Oracle DBA certifications, especially Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), are beneficial.
- Experience supporting large-scale or mission-critical database deployments.
- Familiarity with automation and scripting to streamline database management tasks.
