Oracle Database Administrator

Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) with over three years of practical experience to join our team in Gurugram on a contract basis. The ideal candidate will be proficient in managing database administration duties including system monitoring, troubleshooting, performance tuning, patch application, and production support activities to ensure optimum database performance and availability.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive end-to-end monitoring and health assessment of Oracle database environments.
• Execute Oracle database patching, applying PSU, RU, and dot-release updates efficiently.
• Manage high priority incidents (Severity 1 & 2), including raising and coordinating Service Requests.
• Analyze incidents rigorously to identify root causes, provide prompt troubleshooting solutions, and implement workarounds to meet service level agreements.
• Utilize AWR reports and session monitoring tools to track database performance and detect issues such as locks and latches.
• Carry out routine database sanity checks, alert log reviews, and anticipate potential performance or uptime concerns.
• Support backup routines, data restoration, recovery operations, and archive log administration.
• Manage database archiving and purging tasks according to defined policies.
• Monitor server performance at the operating system level and eliminate redundant Oracle processes.
• Assist in capacity planning activities, including ASM disk management, tablespace optimization, and maintaining database availability.
• Facilitate standby database setup and synchronization processes.
• Adjust database parameters, validate objects, oversee TNS configuration, and gather logs for issue resolution.
• Investigate and resolve database performance bottlenecks while recommending improvements guided by Oracle best practices.
• Analyze SQL and report executions to enhance efficiency and performance.
• Ensure minimal application disruption by maintaining high database availability.

Additional Responsibilities for Oracle Audit Vault and Database Firewall (AVDF)

• Oversee the operational health and status of Oracle AVDF servers.
• Conduct diagnostic evaluations and resolve AVDF-related reporting issues.
• Handle registration and administration of hosts, agents, targets, and enforcement points within supported databases.
• Advise on AVDF infrastructure needs including capacity, storage, and hardware scaling.

Required Skills and Experience

• A minimum of two years hands-on experience managing Oracle database environments.
• Strong expertise in Oracle Database Administration and production support functions.
• Experience executing Oracle patching, updates, and database upgrades.
• Proficiency with performance tuning tools such as AWR, and an understanding of SQL performance, locks, latches, and session handling.
• Familiarity with backup and recovery mechanisms, archive log management, ASM, standby database, and Data Guard configurations.
• Knowledge of tablespace management, initialization parameters, TNS settings, database health monitoring, and troubleshooting techniques.
• Exposure to Oracle AVDF technologies is advantageous.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication skills, and incident management capabilities.
• Ability to operate effectively in a 24/7 production environment and adhere to service level agreements.
