Job description
Job Overview
We are seeking a Senior Oracle Database Administrator to manage and optimize the campus-wide relational database supporting production, instructional, and development systems collectively known as Enterprise Computing Systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer relational databases including creation and management of indexes, schemas, table spaces, views, stored procedures, user roles, and access controls.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database and system issues ensuring consistent high availability of Enterprise Systems.
- Design and maintain data warehouses and data marts utilizing ETL tools.
- Plan, develop, implement, and tune enterprise database systems including capacity planning and recovery procedures.
- Provide data modeling services such as creating entity relationship diagrams to fulfill end-user requirements.
- Adjust database structures and procedures to support system upgrades or new functionalities campus-wide.
- Ensure regular database backups and maintenance to preserve data integrity and performance.
- Keep databases updated with the latest stable software versions and maintain strong database security via monitoring and managing deployed security tools.
- Review audit and other logs regularly and manage disk space efficiently.
- Implement ETL processes and BI reporting using contemporary tools.
- Develop and enforce policies and procedures safeguarding data integrity and access controls.
- Facilitate data integration between Enterprise databases and third-party systems to support campus-wide system requirements.
- Manage disk resources for installation and configuration of database software, optimize file storage locations, and oversee log file management.
- Perform additional reasonable duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a technology-related discipline from an accredited institution.
- 6 to 8 years of experience in academic and research application development.
- Proven expertise in installation, configuration, tuning, and management of Oracle Database, Microsoft SQL Server, and PostgreSQL.
- Strong experience in developing and maintaining disaster recovery and business continuity strategies for enterprise databases.
- Knowledge of Power BI, Data Marts, and Data Lake technologies is advantageous.
- Familiarity with Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Generative AI tools is a plus.
- Understanding of system design principles and concepts.
