About the Role
Jacobs is driving innovative solutions to address critical challenges in urban development, environmental resilience, and complex scientific and manufacturing processes. We are looking for a motivated Senior or Associate Earthing Engineer to join our expert Studies team in Australia, focusing primarily on High Voltage (HV) systems across a variety of sectors within ANZ and internationally.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute earthing-related assessments and design, including Earthing & Bonding scheme development, Lightning Performance evaluation, Earth Potential Rise (EPR) calculation, Low Frequency Induction (LFI), Electric and Magnetic Fields (EMF) analysis, and Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) studies.
- Produce technically robust deliverables using software such as CDEGS and PSCAD, providing leadership on technical content and quality assurance.
- Review and verify project outputs, ensuring adherence to technical standards and excellence.
- Assist in business growth by supporting proposals and working closely with Client Account Managers to win new projects.
- Guide and mentor junior engineers to enhance the team's capabilities in earthing and electromagnetic domains.
- Conduct site visits involving soil resistivity measurement, current injection testing, and EMF/EMI field assessments.
- Collaborate effectively with Project Managers and Section Leaders to ensure successful technical and commercial project outcomes.
- Cultivate strong client relationships across both public and private sectors.
- Optionally, provide limited team leadership including workload management, staff development, onboarding support, and team engagement activities, accounting for 10–15% of the role.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience performing earthing studies in a range of environments including substations, transmission lines, rail systems, water and mining infrastructures, airports, and industrial settings.
- Proficiency with industry-recognized tools such as CDEGS and PSCAD for earthing and electromagnetic studies.
- Strong technical writing abilities accompanied by excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Commitment to quality control, risk management, and delivering high-standard technical outcomes.
- Experience mentoring and cultivating junior team members within cooperative teams.
- Capability to work collaboratively across diverse global teams.
- Readiness to undertake fieldwork and on-site testing tasks as necessary.
- Leadership experience is welcomed but not mandatory; potential opportunities exist to contribute to team leadership functions.
