Senior Mechanical Engineer (Buildings & Infrastructure)

As part of expanding our Engineering division in the Middle East, we are hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer to oversee the design and execution of mechanical systems within buildings, infrastructure, and industrial projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering system design and implementation through all project phases: concept, detailed design, construction, and commissioning.
• Ensure designs meet applicable regulations and global standards such as ASHRAE, IPC, NFPA, CIBSE, and local authority requirements.
• Promote design quality via technical reviews, engineering calculations, simulations, value engineering, optimization, and cross-disciplinary coordination.
• Leverage advanced digital and modelling tools including Revit, BIM workflows, and energy simulation platforms.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to develop junior and mid-level engineers.
• Coordinate mechanical design efforts with architects, structural engineers, electrical engineers, and specialty disciplines to achieve integrated solutions.
• Perform site inspections, audits, and system performance evaluations to verify alignment with design intent.
• Drive mechanical design reviews, identify risks and discrepancies, and develop pragmatic engineering resolutions consistent with project and commercial goals.
• Support project managers by monitoring progress, assessing risks, and ensuring schedule adherence.
• Engage with clients to present mechanical solutions, address challenges, and cultivate long-term partnerships.
• Contribute to innovation, sustainability initiatives, and improvements in digital engineering practices.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• At least 8 to 12 years of mechanical engineering experience focusing on building services within the UAE.
• Proven track record managing complex projects independently.
• Expertise in HVAC design and energy-efficient mechanical systems.
• Experience in mechanical plant design and equipment selection.
• Skilled in piping systems design and system integration.
• Proficient with industry-standard software including AutoCAD, Revit (BIM), IES, HAP, and mechanical calculation packages.
• Well-versed in UAE regulatory compliance and approval procedures.
• Knowledgeable of international standards such as ASHRAE, IPC, and NFPA where relevant.
• Experienced in preparing technical specifications, reports, and feasibility analyses.
• Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS) and smart building technologies.
• Strong commercial understanding of project delivery frameworks in the UAE context.

Preferred Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer status or currently pursuing professional accreditation.
• Experience with large-scale or prestigious projects in the UAE or Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region.
• Exposure to sustainability certification systems like LEED, Estidama, or Net Zero carbon strategies.
• Background working within multidisciplinary engineering consultancy environments.
