Overview
Dishley Holding is seeking a seasoned Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with at least five years of specialized expertise in designing mechanical systems for Sewage Treatment Plants (STP), wastewater and sewage treatment, pumping stations, plumbing, Reverse Osmosis (RO) systems, and piping networks. The role involves comprehensive responsibility for mechanical design tasks including hydraulic computations, equipment selection, preparation of various engineering drawings, technical documentation, submittals review, and coordination across multiple engineering disciplines.
Primary Responsibilities
- Take the lead on mechanical design engineering activities for projects related to STP, wastewater, sewage treatment, plumbing, RO, pumping stations, and various industrial applications.
- Create preliminary and detailed design layouts and concepts for mechanical systems.
- Execute hydraulic calculations pertinent to pumps, piping, pumping stations, and mechanical equipment.
- Select and specify pumps, valves, piping, and other mechanical equipment components.
- Develop equipment datasheets, technical specifications, and scheduling for equipment and materials.
- Produce comprehensive drawings including General Arrangement, piping layouts, isometric piping diagrams, P&IDs, PFDs, and equipment configurations.
- Compile design and technical reports, engineering calculations, specifications, and options analysis documentation.
- Review and assess mechanical drawings, calculations, technical specifications, and supplier documentation.
- Evaluate contractor and supplier technical submissions and identify discrepancies regarding project requirements.
- Coordinate mechanical designs in harmony with electrical, civil, structural, process, instrumentation, and architectural disciplines.
- Liaise with consultants, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, clients, and internal teams to ensure smooth project progress.
- Assess equipment spatial and maintenance requirements and verify installation and interface conditions within the facility.
- Participate in technical coordination meetings and foster multidisciplinary collaboration.
- Support construction, installation, commissioning, testing, and project handover processes.
- Ensure all engineering outputs comply with project scope, Qatar construction standards, international codes, and contractual specifications.
- Manage and adhere to project timelines, budgets, quality standards, and technical requirements for assigned engineering deliverables.
- Work autonomously with minimal oversight, demonstrating sound engineering judgment and problem-solving skills.
- Provide technical mentoring to junior engineers and contribute to continuous design improvements and value engineering efforts.
- Prepare and deliver technical presentations clearly communicating solutions to stakeholders.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field is essential.
- A minimum of five years in mechanical engineering with a focus on STP and wastewater treatment projects.
- Demonstrated experience with sewage and wastewater pumping stations and RO systems.
- Proficient in hydraulic calculations, pump selection and sizing, mechanical equipment selection, and piping design.
- Skilled in preparing and reviewing P&ID, PFD, general arrangement, and piping isometric drawings.
- Experienced in preparing equipment datasheets, technical specifications, and equipment schedules.
- Familiar with reviewing shop drawings, material submittals, supplier proposals, and contractor technical submissions.
- Competent in coordinating mechanical systems with other disciplines and working with various project stakeholders.
- Registered engineer with valid Qatar MMUP/UPDA/MME certification is mandatory.
- Practical knowledge of Qatar Construction Specifications and authority requirements is preferred.
- Previous project experience in Qatar is highly desirable.

- AutoCAD and Microsoft Project proficiency.
- Valid Qatar MMUP/UPDA/MME engineering registration.
