Role Overview
Reporting directly to the Head of Total Rewards, the Senior Manager, Compensation serves as a strategic advisor and leader overseeing all facets of employee broad-based compensation. This role involves mentoring a team of compensation professionals and working closely with senior leaders and HR to design compensation strategies and pay structures that are competitive and aligned with the organization's growth targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with senior business and HR leaders to develop and implement comprehensive compensation programs and frameworks.
- Deliver ongoing education and support to business leaders, employees, and HR on compensation policies and plans to maximize impact.
- Manage the year-end compensation process, recommending procedural improvements and automation opportunities to enhance the experience for managers and employees.
- Lead job evaluation efforts by guiding the compensation team, reviewing job analyses, and validating recommendations with stakeholders.
- Conduct annual market analyses and support the business in interpreting and applying market data for compensation decisions.
- Oversee team efforts on compensation market surveys, data compilation, analysis, and prepare insights and recommendations.
- Partner with finance to coordinate salary planning, bonus accruals, payouts, and related forecasting activities.
- Drive transformation of compensation data management, analytics, and develop measurement tools such as dashboards for key compensation metrics.
- Administer equity compensation programs ensuring compliance, data integrity, and participant-friendly workflows.
- Engage in compensation projects, mergers and acquisitions initiatives, and prepare materials for Human Resource Committees, collaborating widely across functions using project planning and change management skills.
Leadership and Thought Partnership
- Lead, coach, and develop a global, diverse compensation team.
- Promote best practices, knowledge sharing, and collaboration within HR for consistent compensation program administration.
- Support compensation strategy alignment during business transformations and M&A activities.
- Collaborate across HR functions to ensure total rewards positively contribute to employee experience, inclusivity, fairness, and organizational culture.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in compensation management or related field.
- Exceptional advisory and consulting skills, able to engage effectively with executives, HR teams, and clients with a strong service orientation.
- Comprehensive understanding of compensation principles, program design, job leveling frameworks, and job evaluation techniques.
- Demonstrated project management skills and ability to work at all organizational levels.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and compensation modeling capabilities with attention to detail.
- Advanced proficiency with MS Office suite or Google Workspace tools.
- Undergraduate degree preferably in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or related discipline.
- Experience with Workday or other HRIS systems and professional certifications such as CCP or CHRP are advantageous.
Compensation and Additional Information
The annual salary range for this role is between 140,000 CAD and 150,000 CAD. This range serves as a guideline and may vary depending on candidates' relevant experience and skills.
