Senior Java Software Engineer

Role Overview

The Senior Java Software Engineer is tasked with the design, development, and upkeep of applications built on Java technology. This role requires effective collaboration with fellow developers, product managers, and cross-functional teams to create innovative and high-quality software.

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with development teams, product managers, and other departments to conceptualize software solutions and roll out new features.
• Liaise with clients and service suppliers to ensure technical requirements are properly aligned.
• Architect, build, and maintain high-performing and scalable back-end systems.
• Manage and develop robust databases and applications.
• Design and implement efficient APIs.
• Establish security measures and data protection configurations.
• Produce clean, maintainable, and efficient source code.
• Conduct tests to confirm software responsiveness and performance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve software defects.
• Create clear and comprehensive technical documentation.
• Continuously update skills with new tools and technologies to enhance backend systems.

Candidate Requirements

• Possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science or a closely related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years’ software engineering experience.
• Strong foundation in software engineering principles, including algorithms, data structures, object-oriented design, design patterns, software architecture, database design, and UML.
• Hands-on experience with Java Spring Boot framework and Oracle database systems.
• Proficiency in creating and consuming web services using SOAP and REST.
• Knowledge of API security methods such as JWT, Spring Security, OAuth2, among others.
• Familiarity with encryption and decryption algorithms like RSA and AES is advantageous.
• Experience with application servers including Oracle Weblogic and Apache Tomcat.
• Understanding of Oracle Fusion Middleware technologies (OSB, Oracle BPM, Oracle UCM) is beneficial.
• Good grasp of Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and microservices architecture.
• Usage of version control tools such as Git and BitBucket.
• Experience with Linux operating systems.
• Knowledge of software development frameworks like Agile and Scrum.
• Strong analytical and debugging capabilities.
• Effectiveness in teamwork and leadership roles.
• Excellent communication skills.

Additional Information

The position is based in Sharjah within the Sharjah Digital Department. The employment type is contract with onsite work in Sharjah, UAE. The salary offered is 20,000 AED per month. Notice period is 30 days.
