Senior Java Software Engineer

Job Overview

We are partnering with a prominent global banking organization seeking an experienced Senior Java Developer to join their front-office technology team. This role involves developing and enhancing low-latency trading platforms that cater to global market operations. You will actively write production-level code, influence system architecture, and collaborate closely with traders, quantitative analysts, and risk management teams across different regions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Java services characterized by low latency and high throughput to support trading and order processing workflows.
• Work on fundamental components including Order Management Systems (OMS), execution and routing mechanisms, risk evaluation engines, and market data systems.
• Conduct profiling and optimization for performance, focusing on areas such as JVM behavior, garbage collection, and network communications.
• Contribute toward building robust, compliant, and well-governed systems aligned with regulatory and audit requirements.
• Take ownership of production system reliability and provide guidance and support to junior and mid-level engineers.

Required Qualifications

• Proficient in commercial Java development (version 11 or later), with deep understanding of concurrent programming and JVM internals.
• Extensive experience developing low-latency applications within trading or capital markets environments, including asset classes such as equities, futures, options, foreign exchange, fixed income, or cryptocurrencies.
• Familiarity with event-driven messaging frameworks like Kafka, Aeron, Chronicle Queue, or equivalent technologies.
• Commitment to high-quality software engineering practices including automated testing, continuous integration and deployment processes.
