Founding Engineer

About the Role

A nascent AI startup merging large language models (LLMs) with algorithmic and optimization methods seeks a Founding Engineer to develop the core product from inception. This role demands a hands-on engineer who will architect, build, and deploy the platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage full-stack product engineering covering architecture, backend, frontend, and cloud infrastructure.
• Develop APIs and services integrating LLMs, solvers, and a knowledge repository.
• Lead feature development from concept through production deployment.
• Collaborate with AI researchers to transform prototypes into robust product capabilities.
• Create systems designed for asynchronous, long-duration, compute-heavy processes.
• Establish engineering practices including testing, continuous integration/deployment (CI/CD), and code reviews to support future team growth.

Candidate Requirements

• Possess between 5 to 8 years of software engineering experience or an equivalent background, along with a computer science or related degree.
• Demonstrate strong backend programming skills in Python and sound REST API development expertise.
• Have practical experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, including containerization, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring tools.
• Show hands-on frontend development capability.
• Proven success in guiding products from early stages to production, preferably as an early or sole engineer.
• Comfortable operating in uncertain environments with strong technical decision-making skills.
• Bonus points for familiarity with LLM APIs, AI agents, or AI workflow automation.
