Senior Java Back End Developer

Role Overview

We seek an experienced Java developer skilled in Functional Programming, microservices architecture, and cloud deployment strategies. The candidate should have advanced expertise in modern Java features, event-driven systems with Kafka, and cloud-native application development, ideally with Google Cloud Platform. This role supports a global financial services client undergoing major modernization in Collateral and Risk Management.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and design microservices implementing modern Java functional programming methods.
• Collaborate on event-driven architectures using Kafka, applying design patterns such as Choreography, Strangler, and Sidecar.
• Engage in code reviews, architecture discussions, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
• Deploy applications to cloud services like GCP Cloud Run, GKE, and GCS or other public clouds.
• Produce clean, maintainable, and testable code with attention to scalability and readability.
• Promote the use of recent Java functionalities including Pattern Matching, Records, and Record Patterns.
• Understand and implement deployment and CI/CD pipelines in cloud environments.

Technical Requirements

• Expertise in Java core concepts and functional programming, including Streams, Lambda expressions, and functional interfaces.
• Experience with Java versions 17 and beyond, with preference for knowledge of Java 21 features.
• Proficient in immutable data structures, pure function paradigms, and clean coding principles.
• Strong grasp of microservices patterns, especially Kafka-based event-driven models.
• Experience deploying applications on cloud platforms (preferably GCP, also AWS or Azure) with services like Cloud Run, GKE, and GCS.
• Familiarity with deployment automation, infrastructure as code, and continuous integration and delivery best practices.
